Editing and exporting a photo often drops or rewrites its metadata. Copying lets you carry the original details forward:
- Restore fields an export or a strip removed from a file.
- Apply one author, copyright and contact block across a whole shoot.
- Match an edited export to the camera data of the original frame.
What a binary template captures
Typing a field by hand only works for standard tags. A lot of what a camera writes — maker notes, proprietary blocks, an embedded thumbnail — is stored in a binary form you cannot reproduce with a keyboard.
metavanish sidesteps that by copying the values themselves into a compact binary template, not by asking you to re-enter them. That means even manufacturer-specific data (the kind labelled Apple, Canon, Nikon and so on) transfers intact.
How it works
Open the photo you want to copy from and save its metadata as a template — it is stored locally in your browser, ready to reuse. Then open the file you want to write to and apply the template. The full set is written onto the new file in one step, and you can reuse the same template on as many photos as you like.

Both files are processed in the memory of your request and discarded immediately, and the template lives only in your own browser — never uploaded, never stored on a server, no account needed.
